“We were first in line – and we joked that we would have spent the night if we had to!” shared Ivonne Zamudio, who attended the Cox-sponsored Computers 2 Kids distribution with her mother, Maria Yolanda Villavencencio. “We didn’t have a computer at home, so this was such a special opportunity for our family.”
For Ivonne, having technology at home means her children, ages six and eight, can build on the computer skills they are learning at school. For her recently retired mother, the computer represents something equally important: independence.
“My mom is excited to learn how to do things for herself online instead of always relying on us,” Ivonne explained. “She wants to learn how to pay her bills, manage her doctors’ appointments, and become more comfortable with technology. These computers will make a difference for three generations of our family.”
