Frequently Asked Questions

Getting a Computer

Our Technology Assistance Program serves families and individuals who are low-income, veterans, seniors, or students without a working home computer. You must live in the U.S. and meet basic income-eligibility guidelines similar to those used for free or reduced-price lunch, SNAP, or other public-assistance programs.

To apply, visit the TAP page on on our website and complete the application form.

Qualifying families can receive a refurbished desktop or laptop computer for a small co-pay, typically between $0–$20 depending on the program. Some partner agencies fully cover this fee.

Computers received through our Technology Assistance Program include 1 year of technical support to help with common issues.

Once you complete your application, you will be contacted within 7 business days. Families typically receive their computers within 2–4 weeks depending on program availability and demand.

You will need basic household details, contact information, and proof of eligibility (such as participation in programs like CalFresh, Medi-Cal, or school free/reduced lunch).

Eligibility varies by household size and program rules. Many programs allow one computer per student, while others limit to one per household.

While C2K does not directly provide internet service, we connect families to low-cost internet programs through local providers.
